A groundbreaking immersive experience that transcends the borders between imagination and reality.

what if we got it right?

Set against the backdrop of an uninhabited island transformed into a haven of ecological innovation and social equity, this project encapsulates the very essence of Solarpunk—a genre that envisions a harmonious intersection between humanity and nature through a lens of optimism and technological ingenuity.

15 MINUTE CITY

Participants journey as pioneers, crash-landing on an island where they face the exciting challenge of building a sustainable community from scratch. Armed with nothing but natural and Solarpunk-inspired materials scattered around their landing zones, they embark on an experiential quest. They design 15-minute 'city' sections of the island, each featuring habitats, clothing, flags, and a compelling narrative that offers a glimpse into a hopeful, sustainable future.

human board GAME

This edition of Solarpunk Island on the Highlands campus was designed to be like a human board game. Participants arrived, they experienced a crash-landing and then they were given evacuation packs that gave them individual roles to play (personas), a particular island with varying habitats, challenges and luxuries (island cards) and resources both personal and found around their island. In an allotted time they had to develop a future Solarpunk Island using all of these key elements.

  • Since returning from one of the most profound educational experiences I have had in my ten years working I have convinced my art and design colleagues that this is the way forward in Education
